This is a representation of Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon, South Gyeongsang-do Province that was painted on a fan by Jeong Seon (1676-1759). The shape of the fan seems to naturally reflect the mountainous terrain. The temple nestled in its mountain valley was painted from a bird’s eye perspective. The depiction of Daejeokgwangjeon Hall as a two-story building stands out, since after a fire in 1817 it was rebuilt as a single-story structure.
