This is a portrait of Yi Jae wearing a scholar’s robe and a headdress. The contours of his face, left ear, eyes, mouth, nose, upper eyelids, and wrinkles were drawn in brown lines, and black ink was then applied lightly along the lines. The pupils of the eyes are portrayed plainly, and the upper eyelids are painted dark. The neatly placed stripe below the hands lends a subdued decorativeness to the portrait.
