This is a Buddhist painting of the ninth of the ten kings of hell. This painting portrays what happens to the dead on their first anniversary in the afterlife. The weight of their sins is measured, they are hung from steel columns with flames burning below, their flesh is chipped away with a chisel, and other punishments are inflicted. The painting was originally kept at Taegosa Temple on Mt. Bukhansan.
