This is a Buddhist painting of the sixth of the ten kings of hell. On the 42nd day after a person’s death, the soul comes before the sixth king, who metes out just punishment according to his or her remaining sins. This painting depicts the dead being eaten by snakes. The painting was originally kept at Taegosa Temple on Mt. Bukhansan.
