This painting portrays bamboo trees swaying in the wind on a stormy summer night in the Xiao and Xiang Rivers area of China. Such visual effects from a dynamic depiction of a storm blowing from the left-top down were not adopted until the Northern Song Dynasty of China. As such, this painting is presumed to have been made in the style of the Northern Song Dynasty.
