Yi Jing’s landscapes are characterized by grace and stability. Each of these works on the Eight Views of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers theme from China contains the impression of his pen-name Wansan (完山). The painting of a snowy field at dusk features his other pen-name, Heoju (虛舟). In the painting portraying the fishing village bathed in the evening glow, the gentle slope of mountain peaks exhibits a marked contrast between light and dark, apparently influenced by the Zhe School of Painting (a Ming Dynasty style of painting with influences from the Zhejiang region).
