Since our establishment the National Museum of Korea has been dedicated to researching cultural assets and historic sites throughout the country. A particular focus is existing kilns sites; these were used to produce ceramics. Many original kiln examples are in need of urgent research and conservation efforts as they have been damaged by development and illegal excavations. The theme exhibition, "The Song of Nature: Goryeo Celadon of Yucheon-ri Kiln Site" is the result of 1966 excavation on Yucheon-ri kiln site in Bu-ahn of Jeollahbuk-do.

Yucheon-ri kiln site No.12, along with the sites in Gang-jin of Jeollahnam-do is the basis of Goryeo celadon. The exhibition presents the beginning and end of Yucheon-ri kilns, demonstrating through Goryeo celadon the fundamental beauty of craftmanship that Goryeo people pursued.

The ceramic fragments from the kiln site may not fully display their original beauty, however if studied carefully with affection they can reveal hidden details that a complete celadon may not. We wish you to appreciate the craftsmanship and culture that Goryeo people shared and enjoy the hidden beauty of celadon fragments through the exhibition.
