Sijeonji is a paper produced in a decorated fashion specially to be used in writing letters and poems. Printing technique was used in producing sijeonji. First the patterns were carved on the wooden planks, then colors were added to the planks and finally the planks were printed on the papers. As for the patterns, sagunja or the Four Gracious Plants-plum, orchid, chrysanthemum and bamboo- that symbolize the virtues admired by scholars, were the most popular.
