Lofty Spirit Arising from Flames : Sarira, Reliquaries

The National Museum of Korea presents Lofty Spirit Arising from Flames : Sarira, Reliquaries as the
third special exhibition of the year.
In celebration of Buddha's Birthday, this exhibition introduces sarira and related objects that were
not easily accessible to the public. Especially, the Buddha's sarira from Hwangnyongsa Site,
which have only been known through documents, are first exhibited. I hope that this exhibition gives
us a chance to take a glimpseof lofty spirit of shakyamuni and the religious sincerity and artistic
maturity of our ancestors who created exquisite works to enshrine the sarira.
