In 1976, three Buddhist statues were found in Bonghan-dong, Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, all of which have since been designated as National Treasures. This Bodhisattva statue was one of the three, and is a rare example of a gilt-bronze Buddhist statue from the Three Kingdoms Period that exudes an air of masculine power. The scupture is also notable because it was produced with the piece-mold technique, as all of the figure's ornaments, heavely robes, and ornate beads were cast separately and then attached to the body. The figure can be indentified as an Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva based on the crown, which features an oval floral design surrounding a seated Nirmana-Buddha.
