Excavated from a building site in Junghak-dong in Jongno-gu, Seoul, this white porcelain jar exhibits artistic features very similar to vessels of the same type produced at the government-operated kilns in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do, in the 17th century. It has an attractively curvaceous body with a voluminous shoulder and a dramatically narrowed base. The dragon resembles a humorous character due to the highly expressive brushstrokes used to highlight its dignity.
