This document chest has a simple structure that has two legs at both ends of a narrow and long wooden panel and three drawers at the center. The contrast between the space blocked by drawers and the open and empty space is very elegant and comfortable. A document chest is for storing documents and objects and displaying stationery such as a brush case and an ink-water bottle. It was used in both the sarangbang and anbang. It was also usually placed below a door opened toward the rear yard or to the side wall. Since Korean traditional houses were low and small, it was designed to be below 30cm high and to be narrow.
