The Twelve Zodiac Animal Deities were believed to be closely related to the directions and measures of time. The lid of this burial urn is carved with images of the twelve deities, which are similar to those inscribed on the stone slabs around the base of a tomb. The burial urn is also flamboyantly adorned with stamped design of many shapes.
