A Gujangbok, or “robe of nine royal symbols,” is the ceremonial robe Joseon kings wore for formal occasions such as seasonal memorial rites for the royal ancestors or the state guardian deities, or for formal cabinet meetings. The robe was worn along with a myeollyugwan, a crown with beaded tassels. One of the two robes is made of purple silk and features a white neckband, insignias of the cloud and dragon design on both shoulders, and the five-peak design on the back, while the other is made of deep blue twill silk and consists of sleeves, and a purple and indigo inner garment.
