Obsidian is a type of hard, black, glass-like rock formed by cooling lava. Its particles are very fine and it can be fractured to make a sharp blade, making it suitable for the production of stone tools in the Paleolithic Period. This is a blade core left over after making a small blade tool. It was excavated from the Archaeological Site in Sangmuryong-ri, Yanggu, Gangwon-do.
