This book was compiled by Monk Deuktong (1376-1433) during the early Joseon Dynasty, based on commentaries on the sutra made by five Chinese monks, including Fudashi (497-569) of the Liang Dynasty, Zongmi (780-841) and Huineng (638-713) of the Tang Dynasty, and Zongjing and Chuanlao of the Song Dynasty. It was published in 1415 (the 5th year of King Taejong's reign).
