In ancient times, people believed that jade had mysterious powers. Thus, they used jade when making accessories or burying the dead (i.e., by placing jade in the mouth and hands and on the bosom of the dead; or inserting jade plugs into the nine orifices of the body). This one appears to be a waist belt accessory. A red lacquer blot is visible.
