This painting presumably depicts the achievement of Great Yu (大禹), who controlled the Yellow River during the reign of Emperor Shun (舜). Standing under a yellow flag, Great Yu is commanding people who are pulling ropes to shift rocks that block the waters. On the upper section of the painting is a dragon flying over dark clouds escaping from a fire that people had started in a forest. It is noteworthy that ancient people who attempted to surmount nature are depicted as mysterious monsters.
