This brush container made at a kiln operated by the royal court of Joseon in Bunwon-ri in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do Province is marked by a decorative dynamic dragon design on the surface and the use of a variety of ceramics techniques. The dragon carved in openwork, which is depicted as rising up to seize a magic pearl, features elaborately painted scales and a flowing mane. The eyes, beard and mane are all painted with cobalt to create a more vivid presentation.
