The lid of this case is covered with a lotus scroll design. Natural patterns are made by the formation of cracks on the surface of the mother-of-pearl during the process of hammering. The composition of the patterns became somewhat loose compared to lacquerware inlaid with mother-of-pearl from the Goryeo period, but this case displays features (such as the bold laying of large flower patterns) of a later style from the Joseon period.
