The front of his robe bears a rank badge embroidered with a peony, cloud, and wild geese design. When drawing a face, the basic colors were commonly painted on the reverse and then the ears, eyes, mouth and nose were drawn in with fine brown lines on the front. The large rank badge covering most of the subject’s chest contains two wild geese, a peony flower, and clouds, indicating a badge for second-rank officials.
