Pottery of the Central Eastern region

The central eastern region comprises the area of Gangwon Province to the east of the Taebaek Mountain Range. In the early period (from 6,000 to 4,500 BCE), bowls with flat and narrow bottoms, jars with narrow mouths, and vessels featuring additional clay decorations on their surfaces were made. In the later period (after 3500 BCE), comb-pattern pottery with pointed bases, similar to the pottery of the central western region, came to be used. The gradual increase in similarity between the shapes and patterns of pottery from areas located at great distances can be attributed to the migration of people or the indirect transmission of pottery shapes and patterns.
