Roof tiles and Bricks of Goguryeo

Goguryeo began to construct roofs with roof- tiles in the late third or early fourth centuries. The Goguryeo tiles are voluminous with thick lines.
Lotus designs became the most popular after the introduction of Buddhism in the late fourth century CE. After the move of the capital to Pyeongyang, goblin face designs, vines and geometrical shapes became common. The object next to the tiles is a Goguryeo brick. Although Goguryeo bricks largely lack designs, sometimes characters are engraved on them, as on the object on display.
