Buncheong Jar with Scroll Design in Iron-brown Underglaze

Buncheong Jar with Scroll Design in Iron-brown Underglaze
Most buncheong wares painted with iron-brown pigment have been discovered in or around kiln sites around Mt. Gyeryong in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province. Therefore, such vessels are often called “Mt. Gyeryong buncheong.” This jar features a lovely scroll design in iron pigment, made with tenuous but continuous brushstrokes, yielding a distinct artistic quality.
