Sim Sa-jeong claimed that this landscape followed the style of Shen Zhou (1427-1509), a Chinese artist from the Wu school active during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Sim aptly divides the space into planes by using water to separate the foreground from the middle ground and by placing a light fog between the middle ground and far distance. The angled rocks with sharp edges and the use of thick ink dots to accentuate various areas are both characteristics of Sim’s painting style.
