This wooden figurine is one of the funerary objects discovered in an ancient tomb in Turpan Astana. Many wooden funerary objects have been found in Astana (Kazakhstan), but this is the first with red patterns made on yellow wood. It is thought that the object was buried as a “tomb guardian” and dates back to the Qushi Gaochang Kingdom, which was greatly influenced by China.
