This is a rubbed copy from the monument built during the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty to commemorate the tremendous victory of Yi Seong-gye (later, King Taejo) against the Japanese in Hwangsan, Unbong, Jeolla-do in the late Goryeo Dynasty. Yi Seong-gye, who was a military official of the late Goryeo Period, waged a fierce battle against the Japanese attacking from Hamyang. He defeated them, even killing the enemy general Ajibaldo. This is a rubbing from the original monument, which was destroyed during the Japanese Colonial Period. The current monument in Unbong-eup, Namwon was rebuilt in 1957.
