This deep bowl with an upright mouth was made from clay mixed with gritty sand. The vessel is characterized by a yellowish brown surface and decorative bands composed of short oblique lines and a horizontal herringbone pattern arranged alternately. The Shell Mound in Wonsudae in the northeastern area of the Korean Peninsula was formed during the late Neolithic Period, i.e., circa 2000 BCE.
