This white porcelain vessel is a ritual vessel used to offer rice cakes to an ancestral spirit during a memorial rite. Known by several different names, such as pyeonteul, pyeongwagi, and pyeondae, the vessel is a square dish with its four corners curved slightly inwards, supported by a comparatively tall tubular foot that is slightly inverted at the base. The entire vessel is covered with a thick bluish white glaze that creates a subtly lustrous surface.
