Among the paintings by Yu Un-hong (1797-1859), scenes of a fishing boat or weaving at a farmhouse, on which the place, date, subject, and other details of the painting are written, are characterized by unchangeable brushstrokes, monotone light coloring, and almost immobile facial expressions. These traits correspond to the style of painters belonging to the government in the late 19th century, who tended to produce a very formalized style of paintings.
