This is a portrait of Sim Hui-su, who was designated as one of the meritorious subjects in 1613 (the 5th year of King Gwanghaegun’s reign). In this portrait, he wears an official hat, a waist belt, and a black ceremonial robe with a cloud design. A rank badge embroidered with a peony and peacock design is attached to the front of the robe. It is presumed that this portrait was painted in connection with the sitter’s designation as a meritorious subject, judging from the style of the portrait. It has been preserved by the Cheongsong Sim Clan.
