This painting was originally enshrined at Boseoksa Temple in Chungcheongnam-do. The center of the painting shows a scene in which Buddhist prayers are offered for the safe passage of the spirits of the deceased to the Buddhist paradise and their nourishment. The bottom of the painting depicts diverse scenes from the previous lives of a multitude of vengeful spirits, while the top of the painting shows Buddhas serving “sweet dew,” the heavenly beverage, to a multitude of people.
