This item blends the “inlaid pattern” technique with the “stamped flower pattern” technique. With the stable impression provided by its trumpet-like mouth, narrow neck, plump body, and solid bottom, it is a typical example of a Buncheong bottle from the early Joseon period. A lotus flower pattern is inlaid into the middle of the body with the contour lines of the flower and leaves inlaid with white slip and the inside of the contour lines inlaid in black as if to portray the veins of the leaves. The lotus flowers are represented on a dot-patterned ground. Some of them stand upright, while others point down toward the leaves Lotus stems curve between the flowers, lending a lively sense of rhythm.
