This painting shows scholars variously playing baduk (or go), composing poems, painting pictures, and listening to music. Xianyitu (賢已圖), painted by Li Gonglin of the Northern Song Dynasty of China, is said to be the forerunner of this type of painting. This particular work depicts the daily lives of scholars enjoying a leisurely time together at a pavilion.
