Sim Sa-jeong (1707-1769) was a literati painter from the late Joseon period. He was skilled at painting diverse subjects such as landscapes, birds, animals, flowers, plants, and insects. The main theme of this ink painting is peony blossoms, although it also contains rocks, magnolia blossoms, and small birds. The Chinese characters in the middle of the painting state that it was executed in the winter of 1767.
