Flowers and Birds
Five sparrows and a single Java sparrow sit on a branch of wisteria. Nagasawa Rosetsu was an influential painter active in Kyoto during the late 18th century. He studied under Maruyama Okyo (1733–1795), who emphasized the faithful depiction of nature through careful observation. Rosetsu embraced this approach in the present work, rendering wisteria and birds with both delicacy and realism.
