Bowl with Daoist immortal design
Kinrande-style ware refers to porcelain adorned with polychrome enamel and gold pigment over celadon-glazed surfaces. Imari ware in the Kinrande-style was influenced by the wucai (five color) polychrome ware produced at the Jingdezhen kilns during the Jiajing Period (1522–1566) in Ming dynasty China. Kinrande-style wares began to be made during the Genroku Period (1688–1704), which were mainly exported to Europe. The inner well of this bowl features the legendary Zhou dynasty immortal Qin Gao painted in cobalt-blue underglaze. The six circles surrounding the figure were added in red overglaze. In between the circles are arranged designs of beaded adornments. Parts of the rim was decorated with exquisite gold pigment as well.
