Hearing the Sound of Yueqin
This painting portrays a musician playing a yueqin under trees, with a listener enjoying the performance. Yueqin is a stringed instrument characterized by its round, full moon like soundbox. The upper right corner of the painting reveals that it was completed by Wang Qi in 1624. This painting is accompanied by poems composed in admiration of the work by Ge Yingdian, Wen Qiangguang, and Chen Yuansu, who were active around the same time as Wang Qi, a renowned painter of the Ming dynasty. Their inscriptions harmonize beautifully with the composition of the painting.
