Withered Tree and Cows
This is a work of Kim Sik, the grandson of the mid-Joseon literati painter Kim Si (1524–1593). Kim Sik was known for his animal paintings, particularly depictions of cows, following his grandfather’s style. The color of the tree branches varies in light and dark shades, enhancing the three dimensionality. The forest and distant mountains use a blue tone to evoke a calm atmosphere. Although this painting lacks the artist’s seal or inscription, it demonstrates Kim Sik’s mastery and refined style.
