Pottery with “相鼔” Inscription
These pottery fragments were found to be inscribed with the characters “相鼔”. They feature the character “鼔”, which means “drum” and holes at regular intervals, suggesting that they were pieces of clay drums. The regularly spaced holes were probably used to affix the leather that formed the batter skin of the drum. Since it comes from Horogoru, a military fortress, it was likely used for military training or for signaling during actual battles.
