This example of Goguryeo scale armor was excavated from the 2nd bastion of the Mudung-ri fortifications, located close to Horogoru Fortress, Yeoncheon, Gyeonggido Province. It was found in a heap next to the fortification gate. Evidence of intensive fires around the ramparts and the state of disrepair of the southern rampart suggests that the 2nd bastion had been abandoned upon losing its function after enemy attack. The pieces of scale armor on display form a single, intact suit of armor and represent the first example of a suit of Goguryeo scale armor to have been excavated completely intact.
