Gold Belt Buckle

This belt buckle was made by hammering thin sheets of gold. It is rounded on one side and squared on the other, resembling a horse’s hoof. Thousands of gold granules were soldered onto the gold surface to express a large dragon and six surrounding smaller dragons, with blue tear-shaped turquoise pieces decorating the space in between. It is not known where this belt was made, but such examples are mostly found far away from the Central Plain region of China. Many horseshoe-shaped gold and silver belt buckles have been found in the area of Nangnang.
