Trumpet-shaped Bronze Object

This bronze object is shaped like a trumpet, consisting of a long tube and a funnel-shaped section. A similarly shaped bronze object, used as a horsehead decoration, was excavated from the Zhengjiawaji site in Shenyang, China. However, horse gear essential for handling horses, such as horse bits, was not present in the Korean Peninsula at the time. Judging from the elaborate patterns, this was most likely an object that was used for special ceremonies. It can be seen to demonstrate how an object’s original function can be transformed when introduced into other local cultures.
