Flowerpot-shaped Pottery
This type of pottery resembles a flowerpot, hence the name. It is mainly found in tombs of the northwestern part of the Korean Peninsula, and its concentration in the Daedong River region suggests that it formed a part of Gojoseon culture. Vessels are characterized by a brown or blackish-brown surface color, and the base clay has a relatively large amount of coarse sand. Traces of soot have been found on the outside of many of the vessels, indicating that they were likely used to boil food.
