Jar with Grapevines and Monkey

This jar features grape vines and a monkey rendered in iron oxide.
The inner areas of the grape berries were further painted with cobalt pigment. It displays an effective modulation of pigment tones and
elegant brushwork. Grapes symbolize both prosperity and modesty, and the Chinese character hu, denoting monkey, has the same
pronunciation as hu, denoting feudal vassal. This creates a meaning of the conferment of a government post.
