Votive Figure

Votive figurine of man whose hands are clasped at his waist in a pious gesture. The deep grooves of his brow and eyes would have been inlaid with shell, lapis lazuli, or some other precious material. He wears a tufted skirt typical for the Early Dynastic period. During this time, wealthy donors commissioned votives to be installed within temples as dedications to their gods.
