Fragment of a Mural Featuring a Horse Rider

This fragment is taken from a Goguryeo mural found in Ssangyeongchong Tomb, located in Yonggang-eup, Nampo, North Korea. Early Goguryeo wall paintings were produced like a fresco, with paints mixed with water applied to a wet surface of lime that had been plastered onto the stone walls of the tomb. This fragment shows a warrior on horseback wearing a cap with a feather ornament, revealing insightful details about Goguryeo clothing and horse equipment.
