Chopper

Chopper
Choppers are ancient stone tools made by removing flakes from a stone to obtain a rough but strong cutting edge. Some choppers had flakes removed from just one face of a pebble stone, but other choppers had flakes removed from both faces. These bifacial choppers are also referred to as “chopping tools.” Most choppers are slightly larger than an adult’s fist, and they were widely used throughout the Paleolithic period for various functions, such as trimming wood, breaking animal bones, and butchering meat.
