Composite Fishhooks

Composite fishhooks are a typical fishing tool of the Neolithic period, consisting of a stone shank and a barb made of bone, tied together with string or wire. This structure was quite efficient, allowing bone barbs that broke off during fishing to be easily replaced. On the upper end of the stone shank is a groove where a fishing line could be easily attached, and the shank also functioned as a sinker. Based on their size, composite fishhooks were likely used to catch large fish, such as cod or tuna.
