Stone Plough

Digging tools were used to dig the earth when farming or constructing pit houses. Two types of digging tools were used in the Neolithic period. The first type resembled a weeder, with a flat blade shaped like the sole of shoe, which was attached parallel to the shaft; this type was used like a shovel or spade. The second type, which resembled a hoe in both shape and function, had a heavy and relatively blunt blade that was attached perpendicular to the shaft. These artifacts are regarded as indirect evidence of farming in the Neolithic period.
